EPISCOPAL SCHOOLS TALENT SHOWCASE
All are invited and encouraged to attend the 9th Annual Episcopal
Schools Talent Showcase to benefit the Episcopal Center for Children.
The concert will take place at 3 p.m. April 15 at Washington Episcopal
School. Bishop Jane Holmes Dixon will serve as MC. Children from six
area Episcopal schools will take part in the program; proceeds will
support specialized educational and counseling services. Suggested
donation is $10 per seat; pre-concert reception is $25 per person.

IRANIAN FILM ON LIFE OF MARY
The Center for Global Justice and Reconciliation will host a screening
of St. Mary, an Iranian-made film on the life of Mary, from 3 to 6 p.m.
April 29 in Washington National Cathedral's Perry Auditorium. The film
begins with the birth of Mary in 16 B.C. and ends with the birth of
Jesus. Filmed in Farsi with English subtitles, this beautiful and moving
film depicts Mary as portrayed through accounts in the Bible, canonical

INTERFAITH DIALOGUE - PRINCE HASSAN OF JORDAN
Dialogue Among the Faiths: A Conversation with Judaism, Christianity,
and Islam is set for 7 p.m. April 27 at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church
(1 Chevy Chase Circle) with special guest Prince el Hassan bin Talal of
Jordan. Prince Hassan will discuss how faith, understanding and reason
can combat rising extremism, especially in the Middle East. Following
his presentation, Prince Hassan and regional religious leaders,
ambassadors, and Middle East experts will discuss the dialogue between
the faiths. This is event is free, but requires tickets due to space

CONVOCATION ON TORTURE AND JUST TREATMENT
An interfaith "Faith and Freedom Convocation: An Inquiry on Torture and
Just Treatment" is set for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 5 at All Souls
Unitarian Church, Washington, D.C. Registration fee ($25; $10 for

RECYCLE UNWANTED COMPUTER EQUIPMENT
The Environmental Protection Agency is hosting a Capital Area eCycling
Day. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 22, Earth Day, the agency will collect
unwanted personal computer related equipment at Freedom Plaza (13th and
E Streets, NW) and recycle it in a manner that is safe for the
environment. Safely recycling and reusing computer equipment helps keep
substances like lead and mercury from harming people or the environment.
Bring your old and unwanted computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards,

WOMEN'S ORDINATION - SHARING MEMORIES
Bishop Jane Holmes Dixon is working on a book on the history of women's
ordination, and is looking for people, especially women, who attended
the "irregular" ordination of four Episcopal women to the priesthood at
St. Stephen & the Incarnation on Sept. 7, 1975. If you were there and

NEW ORLEANS WORK TRIP, MEMORIAL DAY
As part of the diocesan WERK group, (Washington Episcopalians Respond to
Katrina), St. Alban's Gulf Coast Revival team will travel to New Orleans
from May 23 to May 28 to assist with cleanup and rebuilding efforts.
Housing will be provided for all participants, but volunteers are
responsible for all other expenses. All participants must be at least 16

HEARINGS ON LAY LICENSING, VOCATIONAL DISCERNMENT
The Commission on Ministry will be receiving public comment on the new
lay licensing standards, posted at

until April 15. Public hearings on the proposed process for lay
vocations and vocations to the priesthood will be held from 9:30 a.m. to
noon April 14 at Holy Trinity, Bowie and from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 24
at St. Luke's, Bethesda. The proposed discernment process is posted on
the Web site at: http://www.edow.org/discernment and comments will be
received until May 4. Comments should be sent to the attention of the

CHILDREN & YOUTH CHRISTIAN FORMATION COORDINATOR (P/T)
St. David's, D.C., is seeking a half-time Children & Youth Christian
Formation Coordinator. 20 hours/week, including Sunday mornings. Salary:
$20,000. Responsible for overseeing vibrant ministry, teaching training
and administrative and logistical support. Familiarity with Rotational

CHURCH FOR THE 21ST CENTURY CONFERENCE
A "Church for the 21st Century Conference" will take place May 10-12 at
Washington National Cathedral. Speakers include: Diana Butler Bass,
Michael Battle, Marcus Borg, Barbara Brown Taylor, Fred Burnham, Carmen
Guerrero, Tony Jones, Phyllis Tickle and Cathedral Dean Samuel T. Lloyd.
Participants will share what is working in their congregations in hopes
of creating networks of religious leaders. Conversations on best
practices in Latino/Hispanic and African-American ministries and
emergent communities are also scheduled. $250 registration fee includes

2007 STEWARDSHIP CONFERENCE
The 2007 Stewardship Conference, "Back to Basics" is set for April 21 at
Washington National Cathedral. Keynote speaker will be John Oaks.

Christian Formation and Stewardship - Dontie Fuller; Marketing Your
Parish to Your Community - Jim Naughton; The Stewardship Committee and

COMMITTEE ON THE ENVIRONMENT WORKSHOP
Participants from every parish in the Diocese of Washington are invited
to attend a special half-day workshop with the Committee on the
Environment on April 28. The workshop will focus on actions that
parishes can take in their buildings, grounds and beyond to become
better environmental stewards and reduce their negative impact on the
environment. The meeting will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the
Perry Auditorium of the National Cathedral. Doors will open for coffee

TASTE AND SEE...AN EXPERIENTIAL PRAYER CLASS
The Tutu Institute for Prayer & Pilgrimage is offering, "Taste and
See...an Experiential Prayer Class," on April 28 with the Rev. Mpho
Tutu. Participants will explore new ways of prayer, in classes designed
to enrich your prayer life. Classes will begin at 10 a.m. (registration

EPISCOPAL SENIOR MINISTRIES SUNDAY
Bishop John B. Chane has designated May 6 as Episcopal Senior Ministries
Sunday to increase awareness of and support for the 10 Episcopal
services for older adults in the Diocese of Washington. Information
about these services for newsletters and bulletins, contact information
for speakers for rector's forums on that Sunday, and liturgies on aging
are available for each congregation. Please plan to set aside that
Sunday to recognize all the Episcopal Senior Ministries in the diocese.
